Kynast tricycle differential (inspection and maintenance)

I offer you a photo report from my friend Volodya with the disassembly of the differential from the German Kynast tricycle.

At one time, Volodymyr wrote to me on Viber and asked if I had encountered differentials like the one he had on his bike. As it turned out, in addition to the Schwinn Town & Country bicycle differential and my wife’s German Mifa tricycle , there is (at least) another option. I haven’t found any information on this variation of the differential on the Internet, nor any spare parts for it, so I just suggest you look at the photos from its disassembly:

The reason he went to repair the differential was described in his own comment on our (Ukrainian) blog:

For lubrication, he chose a lubricant that is most similar to the “green Castrol” that I used in my case. After disassembly and maintenance, the work became better. I suggest watching the maintenance video:
