I’m sharing my experience of dental treatment at the Rodont clinic in Shostka. I’ll also tell you a little about their amazing 2D X-ray machine.
Four years ago I had a rather sad experience of dental treatment at the Oberig clinic in Dubno. Today I managed to solve the problem that arose during that treatment. Another city, another clinic. How does it feel?
WARNING!
All information in this post is solely my own experience. It may differ from yours or anyone else’s, because each situation and person is individual! I am not promoting the services of the hospital or doctors, but only sharing my impressions after treatment at my own expense.
Rodont
The clinic is located at Korolenko 35 in the city of Shostka. In total, there are 7 places in the city that provide dental services. Why Rodont? Well… first of all, they have their own website, which, moreover, is maintained. For me, this is one of the indicators of modernity, when the clinic does not forget about its “face” (for example, there was a time when the review on this blog about the Oberig clinic was higher than the Oberig clinic page itself). This is an important point, because you understand who exactly will treat you and, no less importantly, what the cost of treatment should be.
The second reason why I turned to them is the availability of modern equipment. Relatively recently, the clinic has a dental microscope, which allows for high-quality treatment of tooth canals. It is also one of the few dental offices in Shostka that has a Planmeca ProMax 3D Classic dental tomograph, which I will talk about a little later.
The third reason is the availability of reviews. If you look on Google, this institution does not have the highest rating (3.9), but more importantly, this rating is formed from 85 reviews. In other dental hospitals in the city, the number of reviews is much lower. The average statistical rating is relative. Let me explain. Over the past six months, 6 negative reviews have appeared (out of a total of 25 negative ones, i.e. more than 20%). These are reviews from users with a “zero” rating (when the user left his first review specifically for this institution, perhaps a “twist” of the rating). For example, if we look at the reviews of another popular clinic (Stomatolog i Ya, which is better in terms of reviews) – all the low ratings (1 star) in them are given by users who also have reviews for other companies in their profile. This shows that these are reviews from real clients. Therefore, the overall rating is quite relative. But the number of reviews indicates that people choose this particular clinic in the first place.
Doctors and service
The center employs several doctors, the vast majority of whom have very significant experience – more than 26 years. A full list of doctors can be found at the link. I was personally treated by Avramets Oleg Volodymyrovych. He is the most experienced doctor at the center, so there was no doubt about the quality of treatment. Each of the doctors has his own referral, so you will be able to get to the specialist you need. Among the reviews, Rybalchenko Marina Yuriivna, who is a pediatric dentist, stands out very positively. So I advise you to pay attention if your children have problems with their teeth.
Some comments were about the attitude of the doctors. Objectively, no one is biting their feet, but is that why we come to the dental clinic? For me, first of all, it is important to help me with the problem that caused the visit. I was not asked any unnecessary questions, everything was to the point. The doctor listened to my treatment history, and based on the X-rays and data, he made a decision about further treatment.
The appointment time was slightly different from the stated one, but you have to understand that dental treatment cannot be performed with strict schedules, so sometimes there can be some delay. For me, this only shows that the doctors take their work seriously and are not trying to do it faster just to serve more clients.
You can make an appointment in a convenient form via Viber, which is very convenient in our time, when communication does not always work well.
Treatment and equipment
My treatment took place in several stages. First, the doctor examined the oral cavity and assessed the condition of the jaw as a whole. No obvious problems were found, so I was sent for a scan. Here, for the first time in my life, I encountered a rather interesting device. It was a Finnish-made Planmeca ProMax 3D Classic dental computed tomography scanner. To give you an idea, the cost of this equipment ranges from 900000 UAH ($20338, used version) to 2.5 million hryvnias ($56497). For Shostka, a city with a population of about 72,000 people, this is quite expensive equipment that not every clinic can afford. What does it do? Here are some wonderful pictures:
This allows you to see the condition of the entire jaw, assess the depth of the fillings and how much the problem may be in the tooth indicated by the patient. With the image, it became clear that the problem could really be with 7 or 6, so it was additionally determined which tooth reacts more to irritation. The cost of such an image in the clinic is 500 UAH ($11.3).
Such treatment is impossible without anesthesia. I was given two injections, after which I did not feel any pain. After that, the treatment began directly. I am not a dentist and do not have the knowledge to declare the procedure of the treatment, but, meanwhile, there was a rather unusual element, information about which I saw later. Some kind of thing was used that caused a certain heat in the tooth. When I asked ChatGPT about the average cost of treatment (more on this later), he said that the premium treatment includes the use of filling the canals with hot gutta-percha. Here is what one of the Kiev clinics says about it:
“When filling canals with heated gutta-percha, the filling material fills not only the main canal (as with other canal filling techniques), but also numerous branches.
Thus, the entire canal system of the tooth is hermetically sealed, and, consequently, the development of intracanal infection and the formation of cysts and granulomas is prevented.
A comparative study of the long-term results of filling canals with hot gutta-percha and the use of other filling materials (pastes, resins, cold gutta-percha) speaks in favor of the former.
The lack of widespread use of the technology of filling canals with hot gutta-percha in dentistry in Ukraine is explained by the comparative high cost of devices and consumables and the need for special training of personnel.”
That is, the treatment of the tooth and the tooth canal was carried out at the highest level using modern technologies. After this procedure was done, I was sent for an X-ray of the treated tooth to make sure of the quality of the work (as I understand it, the quality of the canal filling was checked). The picture cost 50 UAH ($1.13). This picture is not mine, but it looked about the same as here:
Then I was given a filling, and that was the end of the treatment for my long-suffering tooth.
Result
Objectively, it is too early to speak about the results of the treatment, because now the tooth has recovered from the anesthesia and feels everything that was done to it. But I would like to believe that this time the issue was finally closed and I will be able to not think about treating my teeth for some time. The last major treatment was 4 years ago, and then this tooth was not treated in its final form. So I would really like to believe that this time everything will be normal.
Features and cost
I can’t say anything bad just because I waited a little longer than I should have. In my own opinion, the staff is quite friendly. The room is perfectly clean. Maybe it would be good if there were no extra people in the office during the treatment, but that applies to all dental hospitals where I have been.
As for the cost of treatment, the general price list for services is available on the website itself . The procedure cost me 3000 UAH ($68) for treatment plus 550 UAH ($12.5) for an X-ray. Is that too much? I became curious, and I asked ChatGPT about the average cost of nerve removal. I received the following price list:
That is, the average price in the country for such treatment is 3500 UAH ($79). They did it to me without a microscope, but with hot gutta-percha (which is exactly where I learned about it), which already belongs to a more expensive class of treatment. So I think the treatment cost quite moderately, considering the prices for the same service in other places.
Considering the number of clients who came to the clinic during the waiting period, as well as the fact that the appointment is made, on average, in three days – there is an opinion that even without this post, the clinic is popular in its circles. I emphasize once again – this is only my experience. Whether to treat your teeth here is your choice.
